becoming Lady Quinn

Are you familiar with harlequin patterns? A harlequin is made up of diamonds arranged point to point, usually with high contrast to the background color. My current work in progress is just such a pattern, with solid-colored sunset diamonds making up the main set of diamonds.

Cutting and arranging these diamonds into a beautiful gradient of color was such a treat. Color, color!

Next I added a sprinkling of delicate floral prints, to give the quilt a gentile vibe. These prints are Rifle Paper Co. Rosa in Peach from Les Fleurs (photographed with baby Elora way back in 2017) and Burgeon Forth from the Kismet collection for Art Gallery Fabrics. They are likely both now hard-to-find, but how I have loved them!

Then came a generous infusion of Tilda Tea Towel Basics in simple low volume prints and solid pale peach to fill out the negative space.

I absolutely adore it so far! The colors are so exquisitely beautiful and joyful, and I am happy with the composed, elegant and ladylike vibe. That’s why I’m going to call this one not “Harlequin” but “Lady Quinn.” She’s all lady, don’t you think?

Now for the harder part - joining those diamonds. Music on and off I go!
