You can do it - Machine Paper Piecing

Happy Friday, friends! There are just two days left to join the Penny Sampler Pattern Club at the kick-off discount. If you’re on the fence, I thought you might be nervous about the machine paper piecing. Let’s talk more about that.

This week, all club members received the January delivery. (If you haven’t yet, please let me know. Or if you just joined, expect to receive that within 24 hours).

Small Diamond is one of the three patterns included in January’s delivery. Elora and I sewed them this morning in a little over an hour. This super-simple block is the perfect place to begin your machine paper piecing journey.

Am so impressed at ALL the input you put into the first PDF download. I just wanted to say, Thank you.

Things to note:

  1. This is machine paper piecing, so it’s entirely sewn by machine. There are no hand sewn elements in this club.

  2. If you’ve never machine paper pieced before, this is a great time to start. January includes a detailed handbook with tips for newbies and paper piecing pros alike. Plus, links to 2 of my training videos for those who have never paper pieced before.

  3. Don’t worry - we’re starting off with the easy stuff! No need to jump into the deep end. Yes, Windmill will have to wait.

  4. Want a little less paper piecing? You can opt for traditional pieced versions of several blocks in the Penny Sampler. Traditionally pieced patterns make up some of the “extras” delivered in addition to the 3 paper pieced patterns each month. For example, choose these adorable pluss blocks (not paper pieced) instead of the mini pinwheels for your tiny sashing blocks!

With my Small Diamonds and Compass blocks complete, I have just one left to make from January delivery. I’m exciting to keep growing my collection, to see where this Penny Sampler takes me!

p.s. A row of diamond raindrops across the top of my quilt? Yes, please! If you’ve spent any time in The Netherlands, you know how fitting that is. Ha!
