How does mail order machine quilting work? Here is our process.

To start the process, Order your quilting service. Choose the type of quilting you would like, then the item which corresponds to your quilt's size. You'll make thread and quilting design selections or indicate you'd like my recommendations. After pressing "Add to Cart" a pop-up project form will ask you to describe your quilt, input any notes about your order, choose batting and edge trimming services. Batting is included in our quilting services, though you may elect to send a preferred batting as well.
Prepare Your Quilt
Carefully prepare your quilt top and backing for shipment:
- Press thoroughly, making sure that all seams are secure and pressed as intended.
- Any extremely bulky seams should be pressed open to minimize bulk.
- Trim both the quilt top and backing as needed so that the edges are straight and square.
- Check that the backing is at least 8" larger than the quilt top in each direction. For example, a 60" x 70" quilt requires a 68" x 78" backing.
- Remove loose threads.
- Fold each piece separately for shipment.
- If you prefer to send your own batting, fold it for shipment. The batting should also be at least 8" larger than the quilt top in each direction.
- Include a copy of your order confirmation email.
Ship to Us
We ship and receive packages from all carriers at our UPS mailbox. Your package is securely held for us, safe from weather or theft. Ship to:
I recommend that you enclose your quilt in a plastic bag, such as a kitchen trash bag, and then ship it in a sturdy box. You may ship via any method you prefer. Consider adding tracking and insurance for peace of mind!
When your quilt arrives, we open your package promptly and hang your quilt and backing to discourage wrinkling. Your printed email confirmation identifies your project to us.
If you have requested a quilting design suggestion, I will contact you via email to confirm arrival and offer my suggestion. I will await your reply before scheduling your project for quilting, so please be attentive to avoid delays.
When your quilt design is finalized, your quilt will be scheduled with an approximate quilting date. You will receive email confirmation of this "appointment". If for some reason your project is delayed, you will receive an appointment reschedule via email to keep you apprised of our schedule.
Most projects are completed in one or two days! We will consult any notes you included on the project form, when ordering quilting services.
When the quilting is complete we will trim the edges, removing excess batting and backing or leave the edges untrimmed, depending upon your indications on the project form. We do not provide binding services.
Now, this is the best part! Once quilting is complete, your quilt is folded with care and tucked into a lovely lidded storage box. This is packaged inside a shipping box and shipped promptly by UPS Ground, which includes $100 insurance. You can follow your quilt's progress with the tracking number included in your shipping confirmation email.
