Teeter Totter: Week 3 Sewing Blocks

Well this is cool! Today on Instagram via #TeeterTotterQuilt I saw that several of you are making a Teeter Totter quilt with a rainbow blend layout. Of course that is sure to be amazing. Can’t wait to see your quilts develop!

I hope that you are enjoying this phase of the project. Whir, whir, whir - just keep sewing and let your mind float restfully along.

Week 3: Sewing Blocks

Hello friends. This week we’re back at it with the exact same goals as last week for those of us sewing the throw size version. Here comes another batch of quick and easy blocks!

Step 1: Sew Blocks

Once again, sew 42 teeter totter blocks. You should use 7 width-of-fabric strips in total. Don’t forget to pay attention to the second half of page 8 if you are making an ombré background quilt.

Step 2: Trim Blocks

You know the drill ;)

Step 3: Cut Short Sashing Pieces

Once again, cut 48 vertical sashing pieces to round out this week’s tasks. Or, if you’re not into counting, just dice 6 width-of-fabric strips into the short sashing pieces and call it good.

My sewing table is hosting two quilts-in-progress at once, so it’s looking quite busy here. The abundance of pretty fabrics and colors is welcome to my heart.

Week 3 Sew-Along Goal: Sewing Blocks

Sew 42 blocks and cut 48 short sashing strips. We’re making good progress!

Weekly Giveaway

Last week’s winner is @TwinieTolynnie. I think your rainbow layout idea is golden! It’s also fun to see how leaving off the horizontal and vertical sashing turns Teeter Totter into a lattice quilt. Nice.

Share to win!

This week share a photo of your teeter totter blocks in progress with hashtag #TeeterTotterQuilt.

Your photo enters you into a giveaway for a Willoughby Quilt Kit by Tales of Cloth. This is Jodi’s brand-new pattern, and you get the paper pieces and acrylic cutting set too!

Willoughby is the best of both worlds. The EPP is relaxed and fun and enjoyed in all the little moments where you want to be more present, but once the blocks are done, you just want to be done! Willoughby allows you to trim your EPP blocks square, and machine sew them into the quilt top in an afternoon! Win-win!

Winner will be announced next week and giveaway is open worldwide.

good luck, friends!
