Comfort in Drummer Boy Dresdens

The happy, sunny vibe of our this charity bee quilt is just perfect for this moment! After the most amazing, unusually warm weekend, it feels like everyone is smiling in The Netherlands.

Ta da! This is my latest finish for the Comfort circle of do. Good Stitches. Our charity quilts are made collaboratively using fabrics from each quilter’s stash. We tend to gravitate towards great scrappy quilts, like this quarter-dresden block made with my own Drummer Boy Dresdens pattern. And, if you didn’t know, our bee is international and welcoming. There is a circle near you, should you like to get involved! Learn more and register here.

I was feeling especially sunny when finishing this quilt, so I turned a few of the blocks into half-circles. They remind me of sunshine peaking around a corner. Perhaps something lovely is just around the bend?

Free WIP Tracking Toolkit download!!

Last week, Jodi made a work-in-progress toolkit that helped her enormously in getting organized and feel good about her WIP’s. It includes 4 different tracking sheets to help you get a great bird's eye view of your WIP collection, make some decisions and easy progress, and take note your next steps so that it's easy to come back later. I think you're really going to love it!

The quilt back turned out a bit wild, but then when the quilt top is “all colors in” just about anything goes on the quilt back as well. All these fabrics, excepting the quiet white flowers, are from Anna Maria Horner’s recent collections. Happy and scrappy!

For the binding I chose a simple, medium-gray blender print. It fades mostly into the background with a subtle nod to the white/black graphic palette.

This quilt will be donated through my local Salvation Army to a person in need of support in our city. I hope that it will bring them comfort and cheer.
