just some Patchwork Zen

Do you know what I did all weekend? Everything but sewing! I read a biography, did some budgeting, watched a movie, went on a walk, enjoyed my friends, went shopping and it all felt pretty luxurious, even without sewing. Sometimes it’s good to branch out, haha. But lucky, lucky, lucky me, my Monday workday includes getting back into the sewing room.

Today I started by taking down my Positivities quilt to make room on my design wall for for these blocks. I am going for a 6 x 7 block layout, which makes a 54” x 63” quilt from 9” finished blocks. That’s a nice throw quilt size, in my opinion.

Surprisingly, I felt totally positive about the project when I put the blocks up on the wall. I know that’s because it feels more like spring in my heart today (yay!). I decided to make a large batch of repeat blocks rather than searching for new combinations. When you are feeling a good thing, lean into it!

So, I put on some music and cut/stitched/pressed my way into that patchwork zen. Aaaah.

Snag a unique, curated bundle before they are history! This Julia Fat Quarter Bundle by Crystal Manning is available in fat quarters or half yards. Looks like happiness to me!

So here we are now, 7 blocks later. The lighting is terrible on my design wall at the moment, but you get the gist. I think I have enough dark tones now. My next batch of Old Maid’s Puzzle blocks will focus on low volumes, pinks and yellows again to boost that feel-good vibe.

Happy Monday!
