Flower Girl Dress round up

This summer Elora gets to be the flower girl in her big sister’s wedding! Aria is to be married in August, in warm, humid South Carolina, where she will also live. I am not very involved in planning the wedding, but I can sew the flower girl dress! Today I have gathered up options from Violette Field Threads, a pattern company with quite an impressive collection of delightful girls’ dresses.

Chloe

This is such a classic party dress. I feel like we couldn’t go wrong here. The full tulle skirt and classic bodice, with or without bow sashing, looks entirely the part for a flower girl. It’s available long or short! I can imagine doing this is simple white/cream or perhaps with a soft, contrasting element. However, my favorite version is that blue lace floral. How dreamy!

Stella

Like Chloe, Stella has a full tulle skirt. Stella feels more casual, however, with the spaghetti straps and lower back bodice. Aria’s wedding won’t be super formal, so perhaps this is sweeter? I like the ballerina vibe and the idea of embellishing the bodice with fabric flowers.

Isabel

I am drawn to the crisp, clean lines of this dress. It is far less romantic than the others, which Aria may prefer. The square cut bodice is beautiful and with the double layered skirt, I think it still has a fancy vibe. Perhaps some sparkly buttons on the back would finish it off with the right pizazz?

Haven

Haven caught my eye years ago. It sure feels fancy with the lace trimmings and dramatic back. In fact, can I sew a dress with a back like that for myself, please, please? I love the idea of using a tulle skirt overlay to soften the look, if you used a print. Though we can leave that off and the bow too, if they feel too fussy.
