Crossroads in my sewing room

We’ve had a series of cloudy, wet weeks here in The Netherlands and more than a few dustings of snow already. It looks like winter outside, which makes my cozy, warm sewing room all the more inviting.

These Crossroads blocks are brightening up my space! It’s such a smorgasbord of color and pattern, courtesy of the amazing Anna Maria Horner. I’m using mainly her new Our Fair Home collection, but also string scraps from collections past.

Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic has done it again. The color of her new collection suits all seasons, but is especially fantastic for winter projects! Bluish is in stock now at Nanno Creative, a quilt shop located here in The Netherlands. They have just moved to a fabulous new location in Beneden-Leeuwen. A visit is definitely on my wish list!

When I first shared about this project, Pam thought that I was planning to make some white crossroad stripes, when it was really just the design wall showing through. But that got me thinking. This quilt would benefit from a touch of stillness here and there. Yes, let’s do some white stripes. Thanks, Pam!

The Crossroads quilt pattern is designed to be sewn from fat 16th’s, so it’s also a win for fat quarters or fat eights. But being the scrap quilter that I am, I see the crossroad stripes as a great use for scraps. Here are some white and low volume string scraps that should do nicely.

And there you have it - toned down beauty from Our Fair Home! What a great twist. I’m going to have to make more with white stripes for sure.

p.s. You can buy Our Fair Home and the Ruby red solid that I’m using for most of my center squares both at Sojo Fabric!
