almost a Quilt Top

It’s block-joining time! Those Maple Farm fabrics transformed into flocks of flying geese quite quickly, with Rora cheering me on. Today I’ve arranged all the blocks on my design wall just so. Now I’m taking them down, column by column, to sew this Geesey quilt top together.

Nice that the blocks can sew together in columns, even with the diverse geese directions. Once the geese are joined in pairs, they measure 6.5” square unfinished, no matter which way they are pointing.

I guess it’s time I start thinking of how to quilt it! What do you think might look good? Something natural (leaves, flowers, etc.), something geometric-angular or something geometric-curvy? When I choose a quilting pattern zeroing in on one of those general categories is often the first decision I make. I consider both the patchwork style and the fabrics (style + color). This patchwork is already very angular, so I’d likely lean toward something soft as a contrast, especially given the very feminine florals and colors here.

Ideas welcome!
