Rosette Strata top
Have you ever come across a garment fabric and thought, “I have got to sew myself something in that fabric!” Being a quilter at heart, this doesn’t happen to me very often, but when it does I try to listen. It could result in an item of clothing that truly delights!
That was definitely my response when I spotted this gorgeous mustard yellow and white rayon fabric at The Confident Stitch. The scale of the flowers is so nice and the colors are sublime. I figured that the print’s big bands of color could really be cool as a fluid blouse - - -
Tada! I sewed one. This was my second go at the Strata Top by Sew Liberated. I can highly recommend this pattern, friends! In fact, if you’ve never sewn a garment before and want to sew something for yourself, I think this is a great place to start. It is very clear and rather simple. Plus, the fit of this top is super forgiving, which means choosing the right size isn’t high stakes. Speaking of sizes, it comes in sizes 0-30!
I already had all the ingredients to compliment the top perfectly, including those earrings and these shoes. Even my front door tiles match the top! Clearly it was meant to be. I have worn it already!!
The Strata top has a loose, fluid fit. It’s longer in the back than in the front. The simple construction allows it to show off a large-scale prints quite well.
It was three years ago that I sewed my first Strata top. That garment has been perfect for cool, Dutch summers. I am glad to add another Strata to my wardrobe, especially since I have worn tiny holes in the first.
The Confident Stitch sent along some fun “I Made This” labels. They are handy for marking the back of the garment, so that it’s a little easier to find my way when getting dressed. I just adore this silky, rayon fabric and look forward to wearing it again soon!
P.S. Looking for garment fabrics? Try The Confident Stitch. They have rayons, linen blends and beautiful lightweight fabrics that would make lovely Strata tops.
