Happy Honeycomb Hexagons
Ok, I am just having So Much Fun cutting these hexagons. Something about the shape makes every already-pretty fabric positively glow!
Yes, those are ginormous hexagons - 4” along the finished straight edges.
The generous size is all the better for fussy cutting big, splashy floral motifs like these beauties by Anna Maria Horner! See this bundle for something similar.
This ruler set is designed to coordinate with the Honeycomb Stars quilt pattern, to be released September 20th. Use the smaller ruler to make a throw quilt, like my Starry Night version, or the bigger ruler for a queen/king bed quilt. Want to reserve yours? All too soon I’m finished cutting my mid-value frolicking florals. Time to sun them and take some well-deserved glamor shots.
Then I’m on to cutting my low value lovelies. Every print lifts my spirits. It’s such a treat to work with each pretty piece of art.
Making this second version of Honeycomb Stars is my chance to streamline the process for efficiency and ease. Well that and to try out the larger scale version! So far, so good.
I hope you’ll be sewing along with us in October! The pattern will release later this month so that you have plenty of time to gather fabrics and make space on your sewing table.

I have never hung a quilt in my home before. My ex disliked quilts in general and color in particular. I accepted that it was painfully so, until one day when I realized that disliking someone’s art is rather similar to disliking their soul. In my new life post-divorce, I see how important it is that a lover also loves what I make and how I express myself in color and shape. So, in that context, you can imagine how dear it is that my boyfriend asked me to make quilts for our living room and our bedroom walls. And that hanging this first one up really makes that house my home.
