Weaving together my life as a maker and other spheres of life.

On My Mind

Experimenting:: with using PreQuilt to mock up my next After the Rain quilt. I’m shopping online for fabrics and using digital fabric swatches in the PreQuilt program. It gives me a rough idea of things. I’ll make final decisions when the fabrics arrive soon!

Hoping to create a digital coloring sheet via PreQuilt so that you can experiment with your color ideas as we lead up to the sew-along!

Reading:: Just finished Untamed by Glennon Doyle for my new Dutch book club. I’m super excited to have found a small group of ladies who want to read and discuss books together. I think it’s one of the best ways to nurture friendship. Untamed is a zinger of a memoir.

Following:: Arie @RadishandRutabaga. I’ve been enjoying Arie’s color-rich style since we “met” during the Drummer Boy Dresdens sew-along. Her queen-size quilt is always a pleasure to see in progress. Lately she’s been sewing felt ornaments using the @mmmcrafts pattern for 12 Days of Christmas ornaments. Aren’t they perfectly delightful!

Anticipating:: Painting my living room walls yellow! I love, love, love yellow and have received the “all clear” to paint some of the walls in our new living room a warm, yellow shade. Now how to find the right one when the hardware stores are all closed? Officially non-essential stores are closed here in The Netherlands until January 20, but no one will be surprised if that is extended.

I’ve pinned this inspiration image. Our room also has a white fireplace, wood floors and white floor/ceiling trim. I think this is lovely, but I wonder if later I will feel it is too orange. Do you have a pin to share with me? You can’t copy/paste URL’s in my blog comments, but you can share a Pinterest pin with me through Pinterest via my Pinterest handle, Stitched in Color, or send a link to me by email.

January is one of the best months. I love that clean slate feeling and the expanse of a whole new year to fill with creative possibilities. I’m generally an optimistic person, so I do expect 2021 to be better than 2020. Don’t you? Let’s make it so wherever that is in our power.

When I look back at 2020, I’m proud of what my family has accomplished. Aria and Liam have both transitioned successfully to regular Dutch high school. Brandon is doing great at university (he’s a full-time student). Elora is talking so much more and Stitched in Color is actually paying our bills. The future is always uncertain, which is exactly why I’m prompted to take stock and be thankful for what we have today. We are so blessed and you are part of that blessing.

Thank you and Happy New Year, friends!
