Mood Berries: a mosaic contest

Slow down a minute, my friend, and ponder with me in color...

Blueberry, raspberry, boysenberry, blackberry - these are the berries of summer’s end. More than ever I’m welcoming winter this year. What a scorching long summer it’s been! Come cool air, cozy quilts and crackling fire. We’ll invite you in.

Oh how I love the juxtaposition of meadow flowers with plush eggplant and sleek royal blue! The mood is both bright and shady, sultry and sweet. Can you imagine yourself perched on a chair within?

These rich berry hues feel so luscious, so full of flavor and depth. It’s marvelous that something so healthy tastes so good. They represent a practical extravagance, like a sewing staycation or an evening walk or the most serendipitous scrap quilt.

Luxurious, but winsomely relaxing.

I suppose it’s relaxing for me, anyway. This palette is my heart! Warm colors contrasting with deep midnight blue and velvety black - yes, please! The Mood Berries palette feels a bit untamed, vaguely mysterious, entirely decadent. I like my color that way.

So bring your pomegranates, your plums, your currants. Bring your plush fabrics, your wool yarn and all manner of cozy for hearth and for home. Indulge in a rich and tarty palette this season, as we yearn for cooler days to come. Mood berries for all.
