Twin Ombre Confetti Quilts

Hurray! They’re finished, and we love them! May I present our twin-sized Ombre Confetti quilts: Flora for Elora and Aquamarine for Aria.

Each quilt was made with a selection of Ombre Confetti fabrics and Paintbrush Solids. I used the Tri-Recs ruler set, cutting the largest size triangles which measure about 6” tall finished. The quilts are meant for the girls’ bunk bed when they begin to share a room together sometime next year.

Aria selected her colors and directed me toward a solids palette. I’m glad she agreed to the addition of the Ombre Confetti fabrics, because in my opinion they make the quilts. I love the little bit of sparkle and organic irregularity that they contribute. It keeps it simple, without being a bit boring.

Rora didn’t have much to say about her colors (wink), but I didn’t think her little self was done with peach. This mama loves peach! I don’t expect to paint their shared room peach, like Rora’s nursery, so this is my way of hanging on to this soft, girly shade a bit longer.

Aria also helped me select the quilting pattern. We chose Pineapple Skin densely quilted to create durability and add substantial texture to these bed quilts. Cuddly quilts are nice for the sofa, but on our beds we like something that will really last. We like the weight that dense quilting adds and the way they tend to look tidy on the bed without much effort!

I quilted the Flora quilt with peach thread and the Aquamarine version with soft green thread. Both are bound with Paintbrush solids, using my zigzag binding technique.

Phew, it feels good to have this project complete! When the time comes, I’ll be sure to show you how they look in their room someday.
