Roșie Coin Quilt
Hip, hip, hurrah… she’s finished!
It wasn’t hard to choose a quilting pattern for this quilt. As a coin quilt, Rosie is made up of endless simple, stacked rectangles. So many straight lines ask for a quilting pattern with organic shapes. I chose Pansy, a pretty floral pattern that quilts out less densely than some of the others.
Thank goodness for my computer-guided longarm! I wouldn’t want to quilt such a large work myself. The longarm still takes hours to quilt a 100” square work. I can imagine how soar I would be if I had to wrangle this quilt for so long with my own strength. Yikes.
Of course, as soon as it was finished I gathered it up and hauled it upstairs to spread out on my bed. Even though this quilt is made for my future bedroom, with Rangwali pink walls, it does already make me smile right here.
I especially love it with the carved headboard. I used several shades of brown in the quilt with that headboard and my future wooden floors in mind. Floris says the quilt gives the vibe of a bronze and pink goddess. =)
I finished my quilt with that Spring Daisies backing and solid Art Gallery Sugar Plum binding, both from Floyd the Fox. As usual, I used a low-loft cotton batting. The result is a smooth, lightweight quilt that I’ll spread over a duvet most of the year or use alone on the bed in the few summer months.
Just 38 days until I move house! I’m starting to really look forward to decorating my new space.
