Happy Monday all! Things are right in my quilty world: the longarm sewing machine is humming over a customer quilt, my own quilt project is coming along well and I am enjoying my time in the studio today.

Last week I birthed a lot of kids, these three cuties included. I notice that there are more boys and girls in this quilt, probably because the girl hair is more fun to sew!

Everything is still going well qua pattern (Happy Together by Sew Kind of Wonderful) and fancy-schmancy Wonder Curve ruler. I finally did make a cutting/sewing mistake. It came from scrolling to the wrong place in the pattern and following the wrong set of directions. Oops. The pattern does require a good bit of scrolling.

But no sweat. I just improvised instead of throwing away my work.

Here is my wall full of children! They do look happy together, don’t they? To me the bright, solid backgrounds are key to that effect. The solid backgrounds stamp the quilt with a sense of childhood joy, without being crazy-busy to the eye.

My next little girl is almost finished! I’m loving how the Windham basics called Uncorked work for the hair. They have just enough texture and lovely natural colors for hair (look back to the first photo in this post, which has two more girls with Uncorked hair). I’ve had the Uncorked basics in my stash for awhile and always found them useful, also for bindings. Good basics are good friends. =)
