sneak peak Positivities from my Testers

What fun, what fun, to start the year off with a happy, patchwork pattern club!

Friends, I am pretty psyched about your response to Positivities. It was my pleasure to send out the January edition yesterday. Yay! Now you can start sewing Expansion, a block about taking up space for your own growth and well-being.

Have you joined Positivities? Then let’s be in touch on Instagram, okay? Follow the club hashtag #PositivitiesQuilt to share your color scheme plans and see what others have going on.

If you’re planning to follow my color-lead with the deep Peacock background and base set of Tilda Solids, I have good news. Sojo Fabric has restocked the club kits and they are ready to ship immediately! Plus - here’s a tip - sign up for the Sojo Fabric newsletter and get an extra 15% off your order. Nice!

So, this post is actually about sneak peaks. A few friends have test sewn Positivities blocks and helped me spread the news about the club. Would you like to see what they came up with? I thought so!

from @Leukgemaakt

Ingrid of Leukgemaakt has chosen a dramatic brick red solid for her quilt background color, and I absolutely LOVE it! She test sewed the Expansion block with a generous dose of prints. The stripe she used for the Expanding Star element creates such great movement!

When she finished her first test block she begged for others, and well, more testing can’t hurt right? So here are a few other Leukgemaakt Positivities blocks in process - - -

I am proud to share that Ingrid has learned foundation paper piecing from my patterns, and she is really loving the results!

from @PrairieQuiltCo

The illustrious Amanda of Prairie Quilt Co. applied her signature dreamy color sense to the North Star block. This is our block-of-the-month in March!

The positivities are endless… 💖✨🤗

I was thrilled to preview the March North Star block for the 2024 #positivitiesquilt BOM with @stitchedincolor, which is open for registration right now!

This sampler quilt is such a pretty design and the perfect sewing challenge for all quilters! In this block alone I got to practice curves, templates and FPP! 🙌🏻

I decided to make my block a scrappy colour wheel to inspire my year - it was so fun to go through my stash and choose each scrap! 🎨✂️💖

from @SewMaryHappy

Yep, that makes me happy too! Mary is always sewing sunshine, so no surprise that she opted to test sew my Sunbeam block. I can’t wait to see more of her Positivities quilt develop!

from @Quiltwerke

I am blown away by Steffi of Quiltwerke’s dramatic palette! She combines a dark blue background with romance hues: burgundy, scarlet, red, purple and rose. These Sunbeam and Flutter blocks are destined for the April club delivery, but I am designing the spin off quilt now, and her fabric and color choices sparked some ideas. Thanks for the inspiration, Steffi!

I love Positivities! I have participated in many of Rachel’s pattern clubs and loved them all. But I think the positivities concept is my favourite! It’s the perfect mix of mindlessly following her clear instructions, but also having moments of creativity and play.

In a long term project like Positivities, I find choosing fabrics along the way can feel stressful. I don’t want to spend lots of time at the start, planning each color of each element. At the same time, doing it step by step can leave me nervous, wondering if it will all come together ok. Rachel eliminates this problem, by making us choose a set of base solids at the start. After this inital choice, I can now sew each month blindly trusting the process, and can enjoy seeing what emerges with each block. Each assignment uses some additional fabrics or scraps, where I have to chance to be creative and have fun. This mix is just what I need right now and I am so looking forward to get started!

from @Lopolokko

Christine of Lopolokko has a vibrant sense of color that she lets loose with the North Star block. Her “circus” color theme is such fun! I love the different neutrals for the background. It reminds me of a carousel!

For me there’s nothing better than seeing my designs reimagined through your creativity. It is such a thrill and such an honor. Thanks to each one of you who are a part of Stitched in Color, whether as a reader, a sew-alonger, a fabric store sponsor or a longarm quilting customer. I am so, so, SO thankful to have the opportunity to do this creative, nourishing work.

Today is the last day that you can join Positivities at the very best price. Catch it while you can!

xoxo,

Rachel
