Circus Cabin: Week 4 Blocks + Quilt center

Once you get started with this quilt, the momentum quickly builds. The blocks are easy and fun to sew, and when one is finished you lean easily into the next. I think we might be coasting at this point! A finished quilt top is just around the corner.

To find out how to join the Circus Cabin sew-along, click over to the master sew-along post. It’s a digital pattern, so you can grab it in a flash and sew right along. You can see lots of great quilts in progress at #CircusCabinQuilt.

Week 4: sew 5 blocks

If you’re following along with the quilt-along schedule, you will have finished all 16 blocks for the quilt center by the end of this week. Only the border remains for next week, a set of partial blocks which frame the quilt center.

Last time I couldn’t resist working ahead, so I have actually just three log cabin blocks left for this week. Here they are, cut and ready to sew. I still have stacks of sorted scraps at the ready in my winter palette. Good thing we still have the border left and thus a chance to sew through some more. I wonder how your scrap reserves are holding up?

I do find these blocks pretty cute at every stage of development, don’t you?

Soon my last three blocks were full-grown and ready to slot into the quilt.

Enjoy sewing together the 4 x 4 block grid for your Circus Cabin center this week. You might like to put your favorite blocks in the very center of the quilt, where they draw the most attention.

Cheers to what you’ve created so far. Next week it’s going to get even better!
