Quilt Kits

English Paper Piecing quilt kits usually include the quilt pattern, paper pieces for the entire quilt and other accessories such as acrylic cutting templates. What they don’t include is the fabric, so keep that in mind! Here are some of my favorites:

Sewing Tools

You don’t need fancy tools to English paper piece. That said, most everyone who keeps at it will find a few tools that make the process even more enjoyable for them. Here are some interesting ones you might like to try.

Little Keeper

Keep your tools from disappearing. Little Keeper has a spindle to hold your thread, a spot for your glue pen, and a magnet to keep your needle in place.

Sewtites Magnetic Pins

Here’s something I’d like to try! These magnets can hold pieces together tightly while joining EPP block elements. Your hands might thank you.

Eppiflex Templates

Fancy templates for cutting, pressing and sewing. They’re more reusable than paper templates and possibly more accurate too. Assorted sizes.

Sewline Glue Pen

Some people love glue basting, as opposed to thread basting. This is the pen to try! I like to use it for really small shapes.

Unique Projects

Looking for something a little different? Here are projects for every skill-level. Beginners will enjoy the speed of the Modern Handcraft pillow, those ready to explore will enjoy the sampler-style Seedlings Quilt and experienced EPP-ers probably can’t resist the challenge of La Passacaglia for long!

Seedlings Quilt

A modern style EPP sampler by Jodi Godfrey of Tales of Cloth. The Seedlings Quilt Kit includes papers and 16 acrylic templates. For the pattern you’ll need a copy of The Seedlings Quilts book.

Cutting Tools

When cutting fabrics for English paper piecing, acrylic templates make the job so much easier. Cutting templates designed for EPP usually have a 3/8” seam allowance. That extra bit of fabric makes basting the shapes easier. Troll Brothers also has this fussy cutting preview tool, which looks like a lot of fun!

This mirror tool allows you to preview fussy cutting ideas. You’ll need the mirror and viewers Set 1 and/or Set 2.

You’ll also find a range of standard size cutting templates for your own creative projects.
