Spinning Stars

I do declare - English paper piecing is a wonderful project for transitions. I’ve taken it on the train, several times. Tossed my project bag on the edge of sofa after sofa. Traveled with just a few pieces that unfurl into one new star after another. The task seems to add quiet moments to my days.

I have two new blocks to show you, but I suppose this one took the most concentration. The blue star center is made up of a Anna Maria Horner Loominous plaid print. With careful cutting and stitching, it creates a sort of pinwheel center. I like!

I’ve also completed a darker block, featuring Kim Knight raccoons and more Loominous stripes. In fact, I think stripes are making their way into every one of my Ice Cream Soda EPP blocks! Isn’t that funny? I’m always thinking “fussy cut” when I choose my fabrics. Apparently, I can’t resist the directionality that stripes bring.

My next block (also with stripes!) is inviting me to slow down my body and my mind. Hand sewing seems to be something I avoid, but then don’t want to stop once I’ve started.
