Gypsy Wife: Plenty of Pinwheels

This post is part of the 2019 Gypsy Wife Quilt-Along! See all posts.

True confession: I don’t really like pinwheel blocks. I don’t know why, but I’ve just never been drawn to them. I know - it’s so weird! Most everything patchwork has caught my fancy at one time or another, but I’ve never been inspired by that particular classic block. Shrug.

Well, nine pinwheel blocks never hurt anyone. That’s how many we’re making this week in our Gypsy Wife sampler quilt journey. I was able to use lots of triangular scraps from my other quilt-along blocks in these pinwheels, so that was redeeming. Hmm… tossed like this, I do find them a bit charming.

This week we wrap up March blocks. For a chance to win the Gemini machine and Build-a-Block Plus system - a $390 value - from Crafter’s Companion, don’t forget to tag your final March blocks with #Mar2019Gypsies and follow @StitchedinColor, @ScrappyViolet and @CraftersCompUS.

Our main quilt-along task in April is to complete all the little filler blocks that make Gypsy Wife so interestingly complex. First up is a batch of courthouse steps blocks. Yay!

Courthouse steps, square-in-square and hourglass blocks - these are right up my alley! In fact, I already have a head start. Can’t wait to see this quilt come together next month. I may give up on pacing myself and just dig in!
