Modern Dresden Quilt & Pattern

Vibrant colors, gorgeous bouquets, dainty dogwood quilting, sweet snails and lace moths - I absolutely adore this quilt!  It teams with life and joy and femininity.

I'm so glad I decided to explore dresden plate blocks.  And, the Sleeping Porch collection was a perfect pairing.  Its gorgeous lawns pushed me to modernize the dresden with a clean, unfussy reverse applique approach.  There is already so much color and pattern here that a simplified block was a must!

I enjoyed quilting each dresden with miniature dogwood flowers or zigzag echo quilting.  In the spaces between blocks I've added larger dogwood flower quartets, and in the three "blank" blocks I've quilted circles of miniature flowers.

To keep things light and airy, the quilt is made of 100% Sleeping Porch lawns, including backing and binding.  One might be tempted to show this side on the bed from time to time!

Oh, and I've created the pattern!  Yes, the pattern you requested is ready in my new pattern shop!!!  Your instant PDF download includes instructions for pointy and rounded edge dresdens.  You can choose a 12" or larger finished block size.  The pattern will guide you through making your Modern Dresdens via quilt-as-you-go or via traditional methods.  This is not an advanced block, so confident beginners are welcome!  With the right templates and a thoughtful approach, you'll be celebrating your dresden finish soon.

Sleeping Porch Dresdens is sized for a twin bed.  I would save this quilt for Rora because I love it so, but that seems a bit premature since she's still sleeping in a cradle.  Instead, I've added it to my new Handmades Shop in hopes it will grace some little girl's bed sooner rather than later!

Thank you for sharing these quilty journies with me!
