This design reminds me of how lovely it is to sit or lie under a great big tree canopy, gazing up toward the sky. The leaves on their branches swirl, layer and cluster, with glimpses of sky and sunlight peaking through, like the traditional patchwork blocks that punctuate this design.

Under the Maple Tree is a Level 1 Color Mentor pattern that will help you push your color envelope. Sew analogous leaves to create order from your scrap collection! Mix in full scrappy leaves for extra fun. This pattern is great for your small scraps, since it uses 2” and 2.5” squares for the leaves. The leaves can also be sewn from 9 fat quarters.
