Nice Things patchwork

Can you believe what happened just before going on vacation?

Oh my goodness, I already finished this quilt! It seems that my creativity was flowing and the timing was right.

And I do love taking a finished quilt on vacation. It is a rather nice way to celebrate and document a finish.

This quilt is really a kaleidoscope of pretty blocks and special fabrics. With an eye to color, I’ve coordinating a collection of nice things into a serendipitous patchwork.

Can you find all my favorite things? Trees, birds, flowers. Chocolate, books and sunshine. An “H” for home. An “F” for family and friends. Lots of love.

And, of course, Color - Color - Color.

Not to mention sparkly, angular blocks like hourglass, friendship star, flying geese, bear paw and on point squares. In between these playful bits, Anna Maria’s large-scale florals bring a graceful, organic energy.

In fact, the backing is all Anna Maria Horner (now Parry) fabrics, from that oversized plaid from her first wovens collection to more recent garden creations.

With the Baptist fan quilting for a cozy texture, front and back.

Floris, Elora and I went away to the Dutch countryside this week. These photos were taken at the Vijversburg park in Leeuwarden. We were blessed with amazing weather.

My littlest girl is growing up into a sweet young lady.

She is getting to an age where she’s quite curious about my business, how I make things and how it all works together. Luckily, she’s still quite happy to be captured in photographs. A golden age, which I treasure.
