done Good {Harmony circle}

do. Good Stitches is a modern online community that quilts for good.  Over the years the bee has grown and grown, so that these days I find myself struggling to keep current with all the beautiful work being done.  I'm taking up the habit of cheering for them from here, in the way of finished object posts.  About once a month, I'll share some "done Good".  Today, Harmony Circle takes the spotlight!

do. Good Stitches - Harmony Circle - May
block by Emily Vardewoman

In May, Jessica of A Little Gray served as the lead "quilter" with Harmony circle.  Quilter's take turns setting a vision for the monthly bee quilt, usually defining the block style, colors and block size.  Jessica was inspired by this quilt by Badskirt Amy (another collaborative work, actually!). So she called for Rocky Mountain Puzzle blocks in saturated rainbow colors, but no purple.  Yep, rainbow without purple is actually this whole "thing".  Look for it.  You'll see what I mean.

&@!?!;@"!!!!

Bee mates each made a pair of 12.5" blocks.  Jessica had asked for low volume prints in the background and the use of black, not brown, for a unifying neutral.  If you look closely, you'll see many blocks have adorable fussy-cut centers!  These blocks are by Angelina79, who fought the good fight with a pattern that was definitely out to get her.  Way to muscle through, girl!

So the finished quilt?  Dreamy.  Positively radiant.  Perfectly delightful.

I love how each member has so much color freedom with an everything-goes rainbow color scheme like this.  It's a great chance to use that random cutesy fabric you stashed or those scraps you got in a swap.  And you know that all those happy images and colors are sure to be appreciated by the little person this quilt ends up with.

Jessica found a place for some extra blocks on the back, and finished it off with artful straight line quilting.   Well done!  Congratulations Jessica, Harmony host Melissa (Mama Missa), and the entire Harmony circle, Flickr names:  Denise {aka samhanmama}, durablegoods, Angelina79, Colby - sew. quilt. explore..., KellyS @ Live. Love. Create, Vardewoman, VirginiaU, Jemellia and madfabriholic!

This quilt has been sent off to Project Linus, who delivers handmade blankets to children in need in hospitals, shelters and more.
