it's a Mess in here

It's a mess in here.  And I mostly mean my head, but this sewing space makes it tangible.  Two totally different blocks in play, bobbin needs winding, paper airplane paraphernalia scattered everywhere...

it's a Mess in here

I don't know what I'm doing next with my day:

* finish that go Anywhere Stripes block?
* try to sew my first Tobacco Leaf?
* start something new just because?
* or ditch it all and go shopping (whaaaat!)?

Since returning from our weekend getaway in the Blue Ridge Mountains,  project seeds seem to be everywhere.  Looking at photos from our weekend, trying to get dressed this morning, hanging laundry - so many trivial things are giving me that "quick, do this!" message.

snippity snip

Like literally, I took off this skirt this morning and cut it up to make into a quilt.  Don't freak out!  It doesn't fit well and isn't lined, so I wear it like never.  I'm thinking something low volume like this, but I don't really have the fabrics for it.

weekend inspiration

Hanging laundry I kept seeing clothes I'd like to repair or makeover.  This gorgeous hardwood siding from an 1800's house in the mountains (Cradle of Forestry trail) absolutely sings to me.  I'm swooning over the texture, simple pattern repetition, warmth, and old-timey charm.  Oh, and seeing so many old quilts around the historical houses is probably why I came home itching to try to sew that Tobacco Leaf at last.

Looking Glass Falls

Isn't it funny how inspiration can slow to a trickle and other times comes pouring like a waterfall seemingly out of thin air?  I think this weekend unplugged, connecting as a family is really why I'm feeling so energized (if scatterbrained) today.  Sights like Looking Glass Falls and heart-racing river-rock slides into 50 degree water (girls, that's COLD) can't help but kind of shake things up inside.

We'll just have to see what happens next!
