It’s super exciting that so many of you are going to join in on our Dear Dottie sew-along! The event launches two weeks from today, so now’s the time to be sorting your scraps. Our sew-along sponsor, Fenceline Fabrics has created lots of mini bundles to fill in any gaps. Search “Dear Dottie” to see all the bundles or try pattern-related phrases such as “light assortment” to zero in on exactly what you need!

This weekend I finished my baby-sized Dear Dottie quilt. It’s a 32” square of scrap happy dots with cinnamon roll swirl quilting. Fun, fun, fun!

Twenty-five dots is not nearly enough to get this one out of my system. Fortunately the sew-along gives me the perfect excuse to make another throw-sized Dear Dottie. More on my plans for that later. First this little cutie deserves a minute to shine.

If you have a baby in your life that needs some quilty love, my Dear Dottie pattern includes directions for the baby sized version too. There’s a quilt map in the pattern that shows where to place all of the different block types to create this dynamic layout. Of course, you can totally wing it! But, if you want to recreate this look, I’ve made that easy to do.

For the quilt back, I pieced together two fabric cuts, each about a half yard in size. One is a cuddle fox fabric that begs to be pet and the other is a Cotton + Steel alphabet fabric, one of my favorite low volumes. Of course it’s bound with my easy-peasy zigzag quilt binding method. If you haven’t tried it, you should. I can’t ever go back!
