I heart Strawberries.

Sometimes we all need a jump start, color-wise.

Do you follow Cottoneer on Instagram?  I do.  It's a great source for fabric eye candy and inspiring color schemes, of the custom bundle variety.

Via Instagram, this Cottoneer Night Pickers bundle caught my eye.  I've been crushing on those strawberries from first sight, and although they've been around for a while, I've yet to add them to my stash.  Sometimes restraint goes a little too far, eh?

I love the color scheme here, with the warm brown, peach and aqua, plus true-blue hues.  My book baby quilt for do. Good Stitches could use a little guidance to bring the colorful bee blocks together.  I've decided to indulge in Night Pickers as my sashing/backing color theme.

Psst... It happens to be on sale through Monday, September 10, along with all children's fabrics!

Book Blocks more.jpg

To get rolling on this project, I created two new book blocks that will emphasize my newly discovered color scheme.  One book features Panorama Sheep and the other a field of flowers.  If you like these books, check out Ayumi's book Patchwork Please.  My blocks are based on her pattern.

I ordered extra Firelight Hooties for sashing.  Don't they look cute perched all around?

Now that all my books are sashed with thin sashing, I'll be adding another layer of sashing in Yours Truly Tanuki in blue.  Hmm... the fabric looks a little darker here than I expected.  Ah well, with the darker blue this feels like it will be a truly gender neutral quilt.  All the better for a charity donation!

Plus, this dose of strawberries will certainly sweeten the deal!
