Nineteen Thirty Medallion, a baby quilt

First, big thanks for making Elora’s first sewing project so welcome in this space. This morning I read aloud to her all your kind comments on Friday’s blogpost, and she was amazed. I heard her tell daddy with wonder how proud you all are of her. Thanks for encouraging her!

For such a little quilt, this one was a long time coming. This mostly because I kept hesitating and revising plans, out of a desire to love well the mama and baby recipients. Do you do that too sometimes?

Now this sweet crib quilt is finished at last, and I will be delivering it tonight. Yay! I am definitely glad that I opted to make it a double-sided quilt. The elegant Nineteen Thirty Medallion is the star of one side and classic 2” finished patchwork offers a cozy alternative on the other.

That little heart square is my favorite!

So, that’s a wrap! And, that is every l last drop of my Tilda Solid yardage in Soft Teal. It really is a gorgeous shade - soft mint with a touch of aqua. Just absolutely serene. I would be happy to come back to it someday as a focal quilt color. I also used it for my Nineteen Thirty quilt solid.

This quilt is one of those that is better up close. The soft, low contrast colors have a gentle, dreamy vibe. Up close you can enjoy the little details and the soft, floral quilting. I chose the quilting motif called Bread Basket, because the shape reminds me of the Nineteen Thirty Medallion. I think it works well on both sides of the crib quilt.
