When paging through Uppercase magazine, I photographed spreads which particularly inspired me. This is one favorite by Margo Selby, which I immediately wanted sew. I love how the colors graduate subtly along the sharp stair-stepping stripes. The regular light and dark accents punctuate the design gorgeously.

Read MoreThis work-in-progress is called Collaboration, so named after the Collaboration patchwork group from Positivities quilt which inspired the design. With such a quilt each round of color builds on the one before. They interact with each other in a powerful and sometimes surprising way. The patchwork effect is so different than looking at the fabrics together as simple fabric stack.
Read MoreYesterday was a treat. The sun was shining, Elora was playing happily with a neighborhood friend, and I was able to spend loads of time in my sewing room. My goal? To start on Collaboration, a spin-off quilt for Positivities club. I got a great, leaping start!
Read MoreAfter investigating the possibilities for making patchwork with non-quilting cottons, I decided to go for it and make myself a small picnic blanket. I want something light and compact to take along when hiking or going for a walk along the sea.
Read MoreMy time in Cambridge was lovely. Every day we strolled into the old town to explore shops, taste the local eateries and gaze at the stately old colleges that give Cambridge its fame. The impressions of travel sink deep and come back floating to the surface in their good time.

Read MoreI do love how this quilt came out! The colors and patchwork make a lovely impression whether viewed from close up or from far off. With more distance the sunny yellow center absolutely glows. I love how the colors blend horizontally in both directions like the sunset reflecting on water.

Read MoreI’m feeling that itch to use up challenging fabric scraps and have been thinking about sewing a quilt using something other than quilting cotton. I have experience sewing patchwork with linen, but what about sewing patchwork with rayon or with a rayon/voile combination? They are both lightweight fabrics, so I think that it could work well - - -
Read MoreI absolutely adore it so far! The colors are so exquisitely beautiful and joyful, and I am happy with the composed, elegant and ladylike vibe. That’s why I’m going to call this one not “Harlequin” but “Lady Quinn.” She’s all lady, don’t you think?
Read MoreToday I spent an hour or so sewing some deliciously simple blocks for the Comfort circle of do. Good Stitches. Eva-Marie @ZusJeb, our queen bee this month, has asked for simple cross blocks in clear, summery colors. Though such colors aren’t my forte, I did find some good candidates in my scrap drawers. You can always count on orange to make things feel fresh and summery.
