Fabric for Pas de Deux + a big Scrappy Giveaway!
Yippee! I’m so glad to welcome you to the beginning of Pas de Deux for 2022!
First, a great big THANKS for your enthusiastic response to this block-of-the-month club. This is a introductory resource with everything you need to kick off the quilt planning stage. If you purchase the monthly membership, I must email your Prelude download manually, so look out for that within 24 hours of your registration.

What’s in the Prelude? Info about our sew-along schedule, the few tools you’ll need, the color sheet, a quilt map with all the groups labeled and ideas for developing your color scheme. But, what you might find most handy is a section related to gathering fabrics.
Pas de Deux is a scrap-friendly quilt! To help you sew the quilt from scraps, the Scrap Sizes page in the Prelude resource offers a concise list of the main scrap sizes needed for each patchwork group, to help with your planning. FYI, the smallest size scrap that we use is 2.5" square. The largest cuts are 7.5" for the Evening Star group. If you’re a real go-getter, you can even start cutting the needed scraps in advance!
But you don’t have to sew Pas de Deux from scraps. Another page in the Prelude document lays out the yardage requirements for each patchwork group. After planning your color scheme and shopping your stash, you can use the Yardage page to fill in the gaps. The page is also handy if you will be using a fabric collection, so that you can estimate how much fabric to purchase. Don’t forget to consider solids too! Mixing in solids to compliment a fabric collection will add more interest and depth to your quilt.
