Tunnel Vision

I could really use some tunnel vision right about now. In the week before baby's birth I allowed myself to start a scrap quilt, just because. At the same time, I ordered fabric for our new bed quilt and since then I've dreamed up a little baby quilt I'd like to make for Elora's car seat. Plus there are bee blocks, an overdue bee quilt and my Penny Sampler I'd like to start.

Well, this week I decided to tackle that overdue bee quilt. It's Love in Tunnels, based on a free tutorial I created for October blocks. Since the blocks are already made, a bee quilt should be relatively quick to check off that ever-evolving list!

I asked my bee mates to send Tunnel blocks in any colors and figured I'd just fill in with whatever colors were missing. Turns out the only color that didn't get any action was green. Green is one of my favorites! Yesterday night I whipped this one up. Tunnels are really such a fast sew!

Speaking of green... guess where I'm sewing now? In my new sewing room! With soft, mint green walls! I'm still moving in, but hope to get more settled this weekend so I can give you a tour.

Today I made a backing, utilizing several childish prints since our bee sends finished quilts to children in need through Wrap Them in Love. I always create my pieced backings by laying out the quilt top and then arranging fabrics over top until its all covered. This process is an easy way to make sure the quilt back is large enough, but not too large. It's like a puzzle, arranging and rearranging large cuts of fabric over the space.
