Unsettled! Named so because we didn't settle, we made something better.  Initially I wasn't warming up to this quilt, but by and by it became one that I'm so proud of.  Thank-you, Heather, for the inspiration, and a thanks to my push-pin batting design wall - couldn't do it without you.  Smooch!

Yes, those triangles are big and so is this quilt!  I used the Hex n More ruler to cut triangles from 8" wide strips of fabric.  The cutting process created a bunch of cast-off triangles (err!).  I used some of those cutting scraps for the half-triangles at the quilt edges and then decided to use up the rest on the quilt back....

Improv Scrappy backing

Heather and I both enjoy the offbeat and unexpected, so I knew she would appreciate some improv on the back.  And I always enjoy improv.  Should really do it more often!  I sewed my triangle scraps together without regard for points, making little bricks of color in various sizes.  Then I pulled out my Chicopee plaid corduroy scraps, because who doesn't want a corduroy backing, and scattered things here and there.   Wish I'd had even more of the Chicopee plaid.  But, well, quilting is sometimes about making do.  And that's good too!

That little loner purple brick is my favorite part on the back!

free motion finished!

Unsettled is bound with a few low volume prints - Pezzy Prints, Comma Swinging Chalk and Fox Trot by Cosmo Cricket.  Finished by machine with easy zigzag binding, as usual!

This quilt was made entirely from my stash, so many of the fabrics are now hard to find.  But, in general there is lots of Denyse Schmidt, Eclectic Elements by Tim Holtz and that great purple Waterfront Park print too.  Here are some of the other fabrics still available: Florence Marcia Floral, Florence Texture Stripe, Chicopee Heatwave Stripe, Pearl Bracelet Yellow , Social Climber Gold, Ta dot in Stone, Ta dot in Mustard, Comma Periods Chalk and Hipster Marrah.
