Gilded Age: a mosaic contest

Slow down a minute, my friend, and ponder with me in color.

As summer burns out in the northern hemisphere, are you longing for cool weather and the change of seasons that marks the unfolding of different days? Together let’s indulge in a studied palette with dusty, cool shades. Something more restrained, tempered and elegant than summer’s riot. Something gilded with promise anew.

pencil set, Design Seeds Bird, Purl Soho Tiny Tile quilt

I see robin’s egg aqua, pale steel gray and serpent green - these chalky shades mingling with the colors of blushing ripe fruit. The colors are bleached by the sun, floating in white or set against crisp black lines that emphasize their elegant hues.

bedroom, bathroom, Nani Iro fabric, color test

With a light touch and plenty of space, the palette is refined. It doesn’t try so hard. It simply IS beautiful.

LissiKids dress, sea urchins, butterfly, flowers

Just as nature takes our breath away, its form and function an everyday wonder whispering to our soul.

peach room, teal room, quilt by @morgankellyquilts, napkins

Once come indoors these gentle hues speak of a Gilded Age. With a touch of gold ordinary things become rather extraordinary. The peachy pinks, the teals and grays and neutrals galore - they birth a natural opulence.
