Easy-to-sew Play Clothes

When it comes to sewing play clothes for my little girl, I don’t want to spend a lot of time fussing with fine details.

I like something, like this simple jumper dress, that comes together quickly.

Extra points if it has open, flat areas that show off the fabric. Check!

My preschooler is going to wear the dress outside in the sandbox, down the lane on her bike and while eating strawberries, picked fresh from our garden.

It needs to have room to grown, room to move and room for her own little personality to shine through.

By summer’s end, it’s certain to be the worse for wear, because it’s loved.

Yep, a simple, easy-to-sew pattern is what I want! I’m so glad I found this one.

She’s worn Violette Field Thread’s Maddie Jumper year after year. I sewed this batch in durable cotton/linen blend fabrics called Nightbloom and Flower Friends found at Fenceline Fabrics.

As always, I used French felled seams whenever possible - at the side seams and when attaching the overall straps. It makes for a strong, super-washable garment and is so easy to do.

Next on my list for Rora - a skirt with built-in shorts. Do you happen to know of a good tutorial or pattern?
