Welcome, Fiddlehead Artisan Supply

I discovered Fiddlehead Artisan Supply about a year ago, shopping online.  Their eclectic mixture of supplies is instantly charming.  I do love quilting, so much, but it's nice to dabble in other crafts and mediums now and then.

Fiddlehead is not your typical modern fabric shop.  Let's get acquainted!

First, Fiddlehead Artisan Supply began as a brick and mortar shop in Belfast, Maine.  They still have a gorgeous storefront on Main Street.  True to their name, Fiddlehead has developed a diverse offering of artisan supplies.  They specialize in both apparel and quilting fabric - our favorites - but also carry 100% wool felt; books and patterns; supplies for embroidery, art, bookmaking, and many other crafts.

Patterns

Their selection of patterns is ginormous.  For quilts, they have an exhaustive collection of Elizabeth Hartman, Allison Glass, Jaybird, Friedlander and more.  Their comprehensive bag pattern assortment includes Noodlehead, whose patterns I've always meant to try.

As I browsed through their garment patterns I recognized so many you've recommended to me over the last year or so, including Made by Rae, Deer and Doe and Oliver + S.

And then there's a name I hadn't yet heard of - Citronille.  This is a French pattern company, apparently quite prolific, whose patterns are only officially published in French.  Fiddlehead Artisan Supply sells patterns with English translations, with permission.  What a unique find!

Fabrics

Fiddlehead's fabrics range from our go-to quilting cottons by Cotton & Steel, Art Gallery, Robert Kaufman and the like to Japanese prints from Nani Iro, luxurious Liberty of London and garment-making staples like linen, silk, knit, rayon and wool, to name a few.  I'm truly impressed by the breadth of their selection!

Notions

As a full-scale sewing shop, they have a huge assortment of tools, notions and trims for both quilting and apparel.  You'll find high-quality natural fibers and well made notions at Fiddlehead.  They even have English Paper Piecing papers!  Snap Setters!  Pom pom trim!  I could go on, but I shall resist.

Arts & Crafts

Do you also paint?  What about bookmaking, paper flowers, dolls, or calligraphy and ink?  There are a number of crafts I've enjoyed, some I'd like to try and one I didn't even know was a thing.  Ukrainian egg dyeing, I'm looking at you!  Fiddlehead even has an array of children's art supplies, Waldorf-style.  These are the kinds of high-quality basics I'll be stocking again for little Rora.  Psst.. she recently had her first beeswax crayon experience!

As you can see, there's a ton to explore at Fiddlehead Artisan Supply.  I'm excited about the possibilities for collaborating with Fiddlehead in the future, especially as I always like to try new things.  Thanks, Abby, for partnering with Stitched in Color!
