Lake Cabin: Finished Quilt + Pattern

These Lake Cabin quilts are quick and rewarding!  I so enjoy the opportunity to use both square and strip scraps in one project and then set those pretty blocks awash in a favorite hue.  I'm glad you requested a pattern so I was prompted to return to the design so quickly!

The Lake Cabin quilt pattern is available now, on sale through Monday.  It includes directions for making both baby and throw quilt sizes.  The pattern is designed to save time in the cutting phase.  For increased accuracy the pattern yields slightly oversized blocks that are trimmed down to size.  It's suitable for a beginner quilter!  Don't let the fancy, on-point setting phase you.  This is a fun sew!

My baby Lake Cabin is sashed in Orchid from Freespirit Designer Solids.  It may be my most purple quilt yet!  I'm not often a "purple person" but the analogous combination with blues and greens has won my heart.  In fact, I love, love, love how the back turned out because I got to emphasize the berry-purple-blues feeling there in some of the color groupings!

I don't know which side I like better, which is the sign of a successful quilt for sure.  Super glad I decided to use up my remaining scraps this way.  Scrap sewing is just so emotionally rewarding, you know?  It's one of the things I love most about patchwork.

At last minute I decided to chrysanthemum free motion quilt this one.  An airy floral design is a nice foil to the very linear patchwork.  If you'd like to try it, see my chrysanthemum quilting tutorial.

The finished quilt is framed in a golden Art Gallery floral with lavender flowers on the perfect scale for a binding.  How lucky!  And now she's listed in my Handmades Shop, hoping to find a forever home with some sweet little baby who doesn't already have a pile of handmade quilts. Hehe.

Now, what shall I make next?  Scraps await!
