Stitched in Color

Welcome, Winter Creek Cloth!

Do you know how I came across Winter Creek Cloth? I was looking for a store that stocks Maureen Cracknell’s latest collection: Sun Kissed. I’d fallen for its bright, summery vibe.

As I looked about I noticed their offerings were unique and modern, so I contacted Dana to invite her to sponsor Stitched in Color. I’m so glad she agreed!

What will you find at Winter Creek Cloth?  Designer fabrics, especially by In the Beginning Fabrics and Moda.  I was happy to discover these two awesome collections by Zen Chic for Moda:

I’ve always enjoyed sewing with Zen Chic’s low volumes, so I’m glad to see this encore collection called Modern Backgrounds More Paper. Of course its available by the yard, but also in lots of bundles, down to fat eighths. It’s nice to see a store offering small cuts, which are a great for making really scrappy quilts. I could imagine using the fat eight bundle as “background” fabric for a quilt, instead of a solid. I like varied backgrounds like that!

The Spotted collection, also from Zen Chic, is a full spectrum of modern blenders. When you look at the fabric up close, it has this fun, spotty texture.

At Winter Creek Cloth you can shop not only by collection, designer or theme, but also by Color. That’s a favorite of mine! I’m often after a particular color when I go shopping. Speaking of, Dana makes color-themed bundles of modern blenders - helpful fabrics easy to mix and match with your stash. You can find them on the Remix Bundles page, where they’re available in charm squares, jelly rolls, fat eights, fat quarters, layer cakes, etc. So many choices!

I also spied Triangles On a Roll! Do you know what those are? They’re pre-printed rolls of fabric for paper piecing tricky shapes. I’ve wanted to try Triangles On a Roll ever since I saw a friend using the product. She was having a blast! I’ll have to try them sometime soon and let you know how it goes!

I’m going to keep in mind their 108” wide quilt back collection, which includes several fun text prints. Plus, if you’re new to patchwork and low on scraps, you should checkout their half pound Scrap Bags. That’s a fantastic value for 1 1/2 yards of width-of-fabric cuts!
