Sewing Again!

Sewing again

I don't know about you, but it feels like it's been ages since I had a good sew.  With the holidays, sewing has come in bits and snatches, plus I've also been working on projects with deadlines, which isn't usually the most fun.  Right now I'm craving some new BIG projects.  It's the New Year, I guess!

But, before I launch into new schemes in earnest, I definitely need to finish up a few more things.  Sides, I really can't enjoy starting new things sometimes when there's a backlog to finish.   Let's see I need to finish that duvet cover for our bed (below), quilt and write a pattern for mom's Sparklers quilt, finish a mini quilt for Curves Class ( spots still open in both encore classes!), an embroidery project for Handstitched and, well... I guess that's all.

Meanwhile, I was up last night sketching out a dreamy quilt.  It combines this pin with this pin with made-by-me Scandinavian motifs and brings to bare all sorts of sewing skills from paper piecing to applique to embroidery.  Oops, hadn't meant to create another big idea.  See, I'm planning to start a scrappy endeavor late January and probably launch a new Scrap Attack, per your sweet requests.  So, anyways, I'm a tad distracted.  Don't know where to start first.

I like paper piecing?!?  cool.

Oh, wait, this post is about sewing again!  Yes, I did finish some Rocky Road to Kansas blocks for Love circle of do. Good Stitches.  It's a simple paper pieced block, a great one to start with if you'd like to try paper piecing.

scraps from Stash Modern Fabric

Stash Modern Fabric sent each member of Love circle a pile of happy scraps from her online shop remnants.  What a cool way for them to help us do good!  These flashy blocks came together with very few additions from my scrap bins.  I used Kona Oyster for my solid.

Liking these pointy points.  I'm warming to machine paper piecing. At last.
