pixel scraps

Phew, I've finally started.  I'm sewing a project for my next class.  This one is all about scraps, and it's aimed at beginner to intermediate sewists, all the better if you don't have a "stash," but buy fabric on a project-by-project bases without a great system for organizing your leftover bits.  Yes, this one's for you!

My friends and I have been throwing around names for the class after Tuesday night yoga.  Scrap Revolution?  From Bits to Piecings?  Scrap Master?  Scraptastic?  The later it gets the sillier they sound, we sound.  How about Mistress Resourceful's Extra-Material Affair?  Bahahaha!

I promise not that one.

I started with the blue version, using scraps from my new blue quilt.  The process of trimming little leftover cloths into perfect squares.... I adore it.  So another version was born.  With more colors.  More scraps!  Hurrah.

Of course, more class details to come.  This online class will not register until August, with course dates in September and October.  You know, back to school and the holiday-gift-sewing-rush?  It'll be perfect for both.

Thanks for stopping by, friends!

  1. The fact that you are starting now for the class in the Fall demonstrates your commitment to good preparation and well-thought out projects. It's also proof that from idea to fruition, books and classes take a lot of time!

    1. Haha, yes, it is a long time to wait, isn't it? I don't usually share about my classes this far in advance, but I feel more casual about things these days. Keep up that lone star!

I love your little bits all color arranged and cut.
You know, If I sewed all of my little bits together I could make a house cozy (and I live in a huge square box).

  12. Oh, scraps will be good! Especially from you, I'm sure. :) late night sillies with friends can produce some really good, much-needed laugh therapy. And even some good ideas on occasion. Glad to "hear" you laughing.
