{True Blue} a curated bundle

True Blue curated bundle

Cobalt, midnight, indigo, lake...  I am about to embark on an adventure with blue, True Blue.

True Blue curated bundle

Not aqua.  Not teal.  Those familiar shades are oh-so-easy to find in my stash and in shops, but blue.  True Blue, in its rich, inky glory.  In its classic beauty.

True Blue curated bundle

In values from pale to dark, all the better to make my quilt sparkle and move, all I need to define that still point.  14 prints, handpicked with a balanced range of textures, geometrics and organic shapes.

I've curated this True Blue bundle at The Intrepid Thread, one of my lovely sponsors.  Should your heart also beat blue, you can purchase a fat quarter or half yard bundle while supplies last.  With the help of these fabrics, I'll be creating a very meaningful quilt for my friend in blue, her favorite color.  And you, what would you make?

For your chance to win a fat quarter True Blue bundle from The Intrepid Thread, add your comment to this post now through noon EST on Monday, February 29th.  Tell us if you are drawn to True Blues, and, if so, do you have difficulty finding them?  Giveaway open internationally!!!  Good luck + don't forget your email address, so I can contact our winner.

  1. Blue is one of those colours I find myself most wanting to match exactly. I live the idea of sticking to "true" blue in a project. It's so lovely but is indeed so often lost these days.

  12. Oh, I love blues! All of them, light, dark, inky :-) But finding them is really difficult, especially for me as we don't have many good patchwork shops here in Germany :-( (well, not in my part of the country...).

  13. A dreamy pale violet blue is the shade I love the most. I painted a bedroom ceiling in it once, with the intention of adding painted white clouds - but it looked so lovely as it was, I didn't want to spoil it. It was like having a summer's evening sky above your head... x

I recently organized my fabric so I could have a better handle on what I have and was surprised at the colors I have the most of and least of - aqua seems to draw me but blues are lacking - would love to win this bundle - I have some rainbow projects coming up that I need to fill in some colors for.

  37. I love blue, but pretty true blues can be hard to come by- I always end up gravitating to aqua it seems. I inherited a bunch of blues from my neighbor- they are older, but still lovely. I love how this bundle runs seamlessly from navy to pale cornflower (?).

    ReplyDelete
  38. Surprisingly I don't have much true blue in my stash at all. Yet they always look so clean. A quilt for a bloke with a simple large-block pattern and straight-line quilting would fit the bill.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm so drawn to blues of all shades. I especially love the aquas and teals mixed with the true blues. All the various shades of the ocean on a bright day. Or even on an overcast one.

  65. It's strange, I love the color blue but I don't tend to use it a lot in my quilts. I'm not sure if it's because I can't find the right shade or I'm just instinctively drawn to aqua because it's so prevalent in the shops. I do love Navy as an alternative to black.

    ReplyDelete
  66. DEFINITELY hard to find, but the only blues I buy now are true blues and navy!

  146. These are my mother's blues, and I have noticed they are much less common in quilt shops these days. I've been gathering them to make a quilt of hexie roses, and find that I have to stretch for adjectives to modify "blue" when I want to describe what I am looking for, otherwise I am shown lots of pretty, cheerful Bonnie and Camille aquas, which are very nice but not the "true blue" I desire.

    ReplyDelete
  147. A stunning true blue selection! Your eye is perfect. I love all blues and have some true blues in my stash. For the past two years I've been all about Aqua, teal, and turquoise in varying shades. I typically have bought true blue to balance out my blue to green projects. Such a calming restful color palette you've created. I'd be blessed if it came home with me!!!

  152. I love all of your blue choices. I've been hooked on indigo lately, but adding some lighter blues in the mix will really make the look sparkle! Not quite sure what direction It's going to take yet. Candy (becanATshawDOTca)

  156. True blues, always classic. I have wanted to make a quilt only using true blues. I have always been a denim girl.

  159. I love blues (I mostly wear blue!) and completely agree that the different shades of blue are difficult to find in fabric land. I think youve curated a very lovely bundle that Id love to win. Thank you for the chance to win.

  161. True blue in Hungary means for me the traditional hand-printed blue-dyed cotton (kékfestő). I get them sometimes for my birthday. I just love them. Thanks for the chance.

  162. What a beautiful collection of fabrics! I would have to make a mini quilt (maybe a modern appliqué hexagon one) for my best friend's new house, she loves true blue too

  164. I've just finished a top with a lot of Alison Glass' indigo line (plus lots of bright colours) and really enjoyed those blues. This bundle is stunning my mum is a huge blue fan and I've always meant to make her a blue and white quilt these would be perfect. Xxx

  165. Blue has always been my most favourite colour, although the shade of blue has changed over time. It used to be navy blue, but now is that blue that is on the cusp of turning purple. Lovely that there are so many blues to play with!

  167. Loving the crisp whites and blues of that bundle. I find true blues hard to find in a 'grown up' or modern print. They're often a 'kid' print or really old fashioned! Otherwise they tend towards greys or teals. carlyesue at gmail dot com

  169. These true Blues remind me of my late husbands eyes. I'd really like to make a quilt for my grandson for his new rooms, and add a few scraps from his blue shirts. He wore this colour often and it always reminds me of him.

  170. Always drawn to blue, but my current stash is small and mainly grayish blues which I am no longer moved to use. Your collection is so tempting!

  171. Blue is my favourite colour but i don't have that many true blue fabrics. I think they are quite hard to come by

  172. I find my stash lacking in this color, though I do love it! Like you mentioned, I have more of the teal and aqua shades. I just bought a couple pieces of fabric in the "true blue" and love how they look with so many other colors. Gorgeous bundle!

  177. I like light blues and navies - I must admit I don't tend to use (or own) middle blues, but perhaps that should change!
You make such lovely bundles; this one makes me think of snowflakes

  178. We here in Bavaria have a natural connection to true blue, it is in our flag. In modern fabric stores it is hard to find, but the old fashioned ones have tons of it.

  184. Oh my HOW MUCH DO I LOVE BLUE???? At a baby shower the hostess asked what our favorite color was. I replied COBALT BLUE! My friend said - only you would be that specific about blue! 😊

  185. I've been having visions of an all blue single girl quilt. A nice rich cobalt is coming back amd I live it. Remember when everything was "colonial blue" not my favorite blue!

  187. I have never found 'true blues' to be a dominant color in my stash of fabrics, but, seeing them all laid out here, has definitely changed my mind in that regard. After 6 great granddaughters, we recently were blessed with a little boy, and another one due next month, so I am definitely in the blue mindset right now, sewing up a storm. lv2bquilting2@comcast.net
