Seedlings quilt

Seedlings quilt

all finished!

backed and bound in DS fabrics

Mmmmm.... spring!  The winter clover that covers our old garden space is bursting out in pure gorgeous green.  All over little seedlings are popping up and flowers too!  This checkerboard quilt of green and sweet colors absolutely channels spring - it's hopes and giddy celebrations.

Seedlings blocks

It feels like this quilt progressed from blocks...

 Seedlings quilt

to finish in record time. But really it was two good weeks.  I thoroughly enjoyed the process, so that could be why it sped by.  Then again, I think my sense of time is a off this month, with moments both lengthening out as endless waiting and shrinking down to one nearly constant thought, namely "I want to be pregnant!"  I have tried to keep stress levels low and enjoy the gift of the present this month; and mostly I have succeeded, at least as well as possible.

But I digress. I'm very happy  to report that I used every. last. bit. of suitable green scrap to churn out enough blocks for a 50" x 60" lap quilt.  I have been cuddling with a quilt of exactly that size this spring.  It's just right for definitely-not-warm, but mostly not-frigid days.

Seedlings this spring

I've decided to list Seedlings on Etsy, in case she catches someone's eye.  Crossing fingers!

welcome, Spring!

p.s. today is the first day of spring.  Welcome, Spring!

  1. So beautiful, bright and springy! That quilt will bring a lot of happiness to whoever snatches it up!

ps I am having the same constant thought as you right now, and waiting to find out if this month is a yes or a no... all just to say best of luck, and I totally understand what you're saying about how having something so big on your mind can distort time.

  2. I know what you mean about wanting to be pregnant. I've been crossing my fingers every month for 4 years now. It's doubtful it's ever going to happen so don't be disheartened, it will happen for you sooner or later.

Lovely quilt, I can't believe all your points match.

  10. What a beautiful way to bring in the new season. Such a happy and hopeful quilt.
I wish you all the best in your endeavor to start a family. We had problems ourselves and were lucky enough to have a gorgeous little girl after going through IVF. I know people don't like talking about the difficulties we have as women, but if we don't talk about it we feel more isolated and that is NEVER a nice place to be. One child is not enough for us so we have opened our hearts to the idea of foster care. All I can say is that if you want a family there are several ways to fill your home with the laughter of a loving child(ren).
Again, I wish you all the very best. x

  17. You have blossoms, we have 6' high snow banks with - degree weather still. At this point, we will end school before Spring gets here! *sigh* On a happier note, my favorite color is green, and that makes your quilt a favorite!
