Shelburne Falls Contest!

At QuiltCon Denyse Schmidt's new collection for Freespirit was everywhere.  Seeing them in person, I knew even more so that I would love using Shelburne Fall's small scale versatile prints, which came in such great colors, some with a distinct vintage charm.

And from the sound of it, you feel the same way!

Soo... let's have a new contest!  Fabricworm is backing us with a Fat Quarter set of the complete Shelburne Falls collection for the winner.  That's a total of 30 Fat Quarters!

To join in, make something - anything! - using 1 or more prints from Shelburne Falls by Denyse Schmit, and enter your project photo into the pool at the bottom of this post by midnight (U.S. eastern time) Sunday, April 7th.

On Monday, April 8th I'll choose 3 Finalists whose projects stand out (in my ridiculously subjective opinion) for awesome use of their chosen Shelburne Falls fabric(s).  Then you'll help me out by voting for the actual winner from among the finalists.  Anyone can join in - blogger or not - from anywhere in the world.  You will need to load your photo somewhere online so that you can copy/paste the image url to add it to the photo pool.

into the unknown

I've loved mixing this collection with my scraps and old DS favorites.  I hope you find yourself inspired to make a project that feels like "you", taking your own spin on the colors and prints.  It's also that time of year when many of us get the itch to sew some spring clothes for the little ones.  Some of these prints would be perfect!

Projects don't have to be big and they don't have to use a lot of Shelburne Falls fabrics (just at least one).  You can mix in as many of your own prints/solids/whatever as you like!  You could even go without a sewing machine.  Just have fun with the fabric however it floats your boat!

Thanks, Fabricworm, for sponsoring our contest!

  1. I love contests like this, but alas, not enough time for me this time.

  2. Yes, a very short window of time - especially if you have to get the fabric first. I will sit this one out.

    1. Thanks for your feedback, ladies. I've extended the contest by a week so that projects don't have to be finished until April 7th. Hope that works better for folks! I also hadn't realized that the old deadline was Easter - probably not the best idea! Thanks again!

    2. Well now that the deadline is extended, I might just have to participate! Ordered fabric yesterday!

  3. I am making another "Scrap Vomit" & have each & every Shelbourne Falls (Chicoppe, KJR, some FMF & Some DS prints) print in it, but as it is scrappy & has a ton of other lines (@ 1,300 pieces - very few repeats) how can I best show you that I used the necessary prints?

    1. How neat! Feel free to use your favorite picture of the quilt for the link party and link to your post about the quilt (it sounds like you are a blogger). If you have 1-2 closeup pictures where I can see some of the Shelburne Falls prints, that will do it!
