Today I've pulled fabrics for something new - a wallet I desperately need! I've been embarrassed by my cheesy wallet (which I bought partially to punish myself for losing my wallet twice in a row) long enough. And it is wearing out too, so this make is a must. I hope to get this project from Zakka Style
These are the fabrics I'm looking at for the inside, some favorite scraps and a sprinkling of text (it's Books and Letters). Hmm... it might still be a little too busy. The layered fabrics are the inside pockets of the wallet which will peak out just the slightest bit. Maybe it's the sriped background that's too much. What do you think?

I'm also tidying up today, stashing away these green fabrics I ordered a few weeks ago when I shared about buying "helpful fabrics". From left they are: Lizzy House Pilgrim Stripe in seafoam green, Lizzy House Jewels in green, Jewels in emerald green, Lizzy House Pearl Bracelet in Green, Lecien Medium Dots in green and Lecien Stripe in green.
And here are my low volume stashings: Ghastlie Clover, Central Park Cobblestone, Lizzy House Jewels in Light Pink, Jewels in Pale Blue plus that blue Hello Pilgrim butterfly print, just because. Can you tell I believe in Lizzy House jewels? Yep, I do. Feeling totally lucky to be taking a workshop with her about quilt design at QuiltCon! Eep!
Have a great weekend, everyone!

i want those texty prints so badly!!
ReplyDeletegreat stuff
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabrics Rachel! I'm waiting to see your wallet to make one! Just today I was thinking (again) that I need one, or two! Have a great weekend! x Teje
ReplyDeleteJewels sneak into nearly all my projects - they're one of my favourite basics :o) I cut and interfaced my fabrics for that wallet last year and it's still sitting unmade - I'm hoping yours will motivate me to get on with it ;o)
ReplyDeleteOMG those ribbons!! I need to go buy some! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat minds Rachel! I just spent last night looking through this book for inspiration! I was looking at the tote bag to use some of my improv curves on, which I absolutely love by the way!
ReplyDeleteLots of fun fabric! I'm on the lookout for a smaller wallet (like half the size of the one from the Zakka book) for a smaller purse I have. Also, you probably know this, but just in case - there are some corrections for that zip organizer on the erata page here: http://www.ctpub.com/client/client_pages/errata/10824.cfm I am betting that's what the folded up paper is in the book in the photo :)
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at how fast you finish a project, I must say I am jealous ;) Always a thrill to see what you have to show us. I love the colors you have chosen for your wallet, I think it will look awesome! Great stash pieces also.
ReplyDeletetotally unrelated to your current post - I love love love the quilt in your blog banner (across the top of your blog) - keep it forever page
ReplyDeletethat lizzy house butterfly is my favorite! looking forward to seeing your new wallet!
ReplyDeleteLovely fabric! I love Lizzy House's Jewels, too, even more than the Pearl Bracelets. Also, Hello Pilgrim was my favourite line of hers so far, the colours and prints were so great. Like those stripes and butterflies! :-) Lucky you for taking a class with her! So cool! :-)
ReplyDeleteFun fabric choices. I look forward to hearing what you learn in Lizzys class-less than two weeks away now! Yay!!! See you soon:)
ReplyDeleteok, I'm relly curious about the cheesy wallet. how bad can it be
