Clamshells again!

Clamshells are such pretty little things.

Clamshells for Curves Class

Do you like my second version of this little pillow, first designed and shared last year for the original Curves Class?  It's the girl version.  So, totally girl.  I'm thinking baby's room?  Not mine, mind you.  But someone's.

sweet.

I used a pretty chestnut brown linen and various powder pink and brown prints.  I really like this pillow done up with a simple, solid background.  It lets the clamshells steal the show.

an improved project!

This is one of the projects I improved based on student feedback.  From the two classes, Curves and Handstitched, I replaced a total of 3 projects and improved several others.  This Clamshell project earned a second go so that I could photograph the newly streamlined applique process.  Thanks to those original Curves Class students who pointed out the easier way!

It's been an interesting experience improving and offering encore editions of Curves and Handstitched, rather than creating a new class. I guess I though the process would be a bit easier, but I end up putting a good bit of time into improving because that's just how I roll.  Also, the interest in both classes has been less than I had hoped, which leaves me thinking that I'll rarely repeat classes.  It's more fun for me to make new ones instead!

So... there are still spots open in both Curves Class and Handstitched.  You haven't missed anything, as class starts January 14th.  I know some folks were hoping to wait until I offered these classes another time, because of timing issues.  Ok, so that might not happen!  You've been warned =)  Remember, if you purchase Premium versions you'll receive the eBook with complete lessons and video for you to keep.  That's the best way to do the class later, on your own time, if necessary.

P.S.  I'm going to enjoy browsing through your fabric mosaics on my downtime here at Disney.  Totally fun!  See you all again soon.

xo,  Rachel

  1. I have been waffling on signing up for your Curves class since you announced you were doing it -- worried about having the time to commit to it, but really wanting to do it, and learn how to sew curves! Well, seeing your post today spurred me to action and I'm signed up and excited. Still nervous about having time, but excited about everything I will learn!

  2. Wishing former campers could get in on the improved way of doing the clam shells. Wink wink.

  5. I love the pillow!! You had mentioned in an earlier post that we shouldn't sign up for both classes. I'm already in handstitched camp, but would actually love to do the curves class...later. Would it be okay if I signed up for premium knowing ahead of time I wouldn't be doing them at the same time?
I also wonder if the lessened interest is actually more about timing. There's a LOT going on this month out in the blog-o-sphere.

    1. Anne, I think I saw that you bought the Wheel Quilt pattern as your way of doing curves. That's a good idea. On the other hand, I do see how those that really want to take both classes might want to purchase both classes, but ONLY planning to do one class live and one class whenever using the eBook.

    1. You're right, there really is a lot starting right now. Seems to happen every New Year. If I do offer it again, it definitely won't be in 2013. Just being honest =)

  8. Both pillows are lovely. I would really love to take the Curves Class but I've got so much going on that I don't know which way to go. Do please offer it again ~ I'd love to take it! I'm still finishing things up from the Handstitched class (embarrassed to say).

    1. Thanks for your encouragement, sweet Elsa. I don't know if I will offer it again, but anything's possible. I think it COULD happen in 2014 or 15, just depending on life stuff.

  9. Rachel, I love this pillow! Also, I wasn't going to take the curves class because my son is on a travel hockey team and right now we are traveling everywhere! That is a great idea to sign up for the class and then just do the projects at a later time. Especially if you aren't going to offer the class again. I hope you and your family are having a great time at Disney!
