That would be a patchwork journal. Obviously. As part of Freespirit's 12 Weeks of Christmas, I've prepared a tutorial for this ZigZag Patchwork Journal. It's made to fit a standard composition book. You know, the ones often made by Mead with black, plaid covers? It's a reusable and could totally look "manly" in the right fabrics. What's not to love?
You'll find the ZigZag Patchwork Journal tutorial up at the Freespirit blog today. I used Denyse Schmidt's Chicopee fabrics in corduroy to make a soft, cuddly treat I'm hoping someone won't be able to resist (fabrics provided by Freespirit). If you fancy a different style cover, you can also follow my more general Journal Cover tutorial to whip up that gift even faster. A little improv scrap sewing and boom, you're done!
Freespirit put together a blog hop with 12 gift tutorials created by bloggers. Should you be still on the hunt for the right gift project, pop by these blogs for more ideas:
Oct 1 - Bijou Lovely
Oct 8 - Stitchery Dickory Doc
Oct 15 - Sweet Diesel Designs
Oct 22 - 100 Billion Stars
Oct 29 - Ellison Lane Quilts

Nov 12 - Fat Quarterly
Nov 19 - Echinops & Aster
Nov 26 - Sew Sweetness
Dec 3 - Swim Bike Quilt
Dec 10 - Stitched In Color

And guess what, Freespirit is giving out gifts too! Comment on this post to enter to win a Tula Pink charm pack for her Birds & the Bees collection.
I'll draw the winner tomorrow afternoon. Good luck!
