This quilt is so quick to work up! I did make a few of the wedges scrappy, just for fun, but still it's a quickie for sure.
My color choices began with the aqua and raspberry rabbit print. I worked around those colors, choosing other prints from the collection and adding in a few misc. fabrics from my stash to compliment the aqua/lime/raspberry scheme. I kind of surprised myself by using Kona Pomegranate for the background color, rather than a neutral. But, the bold, bright fuschia tone really had so much more to say.
I like how the Trellis Stripe binding asserts a bit of order to an otherwise super-playful quilt!

On the back I made use of leftover fabric pieced together in a log cabin style.

Still loving the bunny print... Is it Easter yet?

So, that's a wrap. Whimsy Wheel is awaiting a date with a baby-to-be. Let's hope it's a girl! If not, we'll just have to make another quilt.
Darn.

Modern Whimsy is made by Robert Kaufman in an organic cotton that has a luxurious hand. And it's organic cotton at regular price (in stock at Sew Modern, Fabric Envy and Pink Castle Fabrics)! This circles print is a great basic that's a smaller scale than Metro Living Circles. It looks like I'm ready for spring!
I love the design of this! I also am a fan of that fuchsia color right now and that style of quilting! I've been having so much fun with those loopy stitched lately, however today I'm playing with very straight stitches.
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
What a fun baby quilt Rachel! I love that bright background fabric. Those circle prints are wonderful, I just ordered some last week! Waiting impatiently for them to arrive at my door, hopefully today :)

DeleteI love this! I've been looking at your quilting design. I'm new to FMQ and am noticing neat designs all over. Did you just do loops across in rows? Looks do-able for a beginner!
ReplyDeleteExactly - loops across in rows. I think it may be the easiest FMQing to start with.

ReplyDeleteNo, but seriously. what a great quilt. I've been eyeing that Laurie Wisbrun fabric, and I constantly surprise myself by loving Kona pomegranate (if I ever finish my Bottled Rainbows quilt, I plan to use it on the majority of the back).
