Are you? I am.
Although I made a mini version and two blocks for a quilting bee, I'm definitely not done with Christina Lane's beautiful Retro Flowers pattern. Many Curves Class graduates are dying to make this quilt, and they're ready. They're definitely ready!
Well my friends.... I have very good news! I recently got to know Megan, of City Stitches, who has teamed up with her friend Bianca, of Sweet Diesel Designs, to put together a quilt along for all of us Retro Flower fans! Whooot! Hey, I was thinking of cooking up the exact same thing, but they have already done it and done it well. These ladies have organization down pat. They've got a schedule and a button and prizes (sponsored by Fat Quarter Shop), and well... um... guest judges? Hey, that includes me!
Before I get you all confused, let me share the details straight from miss Megan herself:
The Retro Flowers quilt along is based on the Retro Flowers Pattern by Christina at The Sometimes Crafter. Participants MUST buy the pattern to quilt along. Megan and Bianca will not be giving templates or explicit pattern details. The pattern is only $10! You can also try your luck on winning the pattern, at The Sometimes Crafter tomorrow and also try to win the optional (but totally handy) Tabslot template set on Thursday at Jill's blog.
Fat Quarter Shop Prizes!
2 giveaways for a Jelly Roll of your choice!
3 grand prizes for a $75 gift certificate!
Guest
Judges for the Grand Prizes include Rachel (Stitched in Color), Nova (A
Cuppa and a Catch Up), and Christina (The Sometimes Crafter)

Well goodness, could you have any more questions? If you do, go ask Megan! Hehe. She's announcing the quilt-along on her blog today and she and Bianca are in charge. You can also pop over to the Flickr group, to join in and ask your questions there.
I'm going to be sewing along too! I haven't decided if I'm going to make a nice big quilt or use the blocks to make some other projects, but I'm definitely not going to even attempt to resist this one. Yay! Join in or just enjoy watching the show. Either way, happy sewing!

Thank you, thank you Rachel for the "shout-out!" This is really exciting!! Can't wait to see what fabric you decide on. :)
ReplyDeleteI got my templates and am beginning my 3rd flower today. I'm happy to say, Rachel, that I'm doing the curves in each petal with NO pins at all! Yea for your class.
ReplyDeleteYay! I just bought this pattern a couple weeks ago (inspired by your blogs and pics) and I'm excited about working with it. This QAL will definitely motivate me to start.
ReplyDeleteFab! I'm in, I've had the pattern for a while and need to get my butt in gear :)
ReplyDeleteI'll probably end up enjoying the show from the sidelines, but I'm still looking forward to it! And yes, I'm a Retro Flowers fan!
ReplyDeleteI will join in after I finish my Wheel quilt for my Curves Camp merit badge : )
ReplyDeleteI'm such a fan and a joiner - thanks for the QAL.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! So excited. If this Oodalolly doesn't break me I am totally game!
ReplyDeleteDoing it!! I think I have to use some fabrics that I have here, though. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the retro flowers, but I haven't tried making it yet. Still a little too scared.
ReplyDeleteLove the hand-quilting. I have not tried any curves yet. It might be too much for me to handle right now.
ReplyDeleteOhh I really love the flowers. That quilting is artful. Delightful.
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE (hug, hug) the Retro Flowers! Will try my luck at winning the pattern........ya never know!
ReplyDeleteOooh. That quilt along is really, really tempting. I'll have to make up my mind whether or not I feel up to trying curves for the first time.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I can see lots of possibilities with this design, and it will be fun watching what everyone comes up with!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so ready for this quilt-along. I'm off to buy my pattern now, thanks for all the info.
ReplyDeletePerfect timing. I started cutting my Retro Flowers 2 days ago.
ReplyDeleteVery tempting!! Either way, it will be fun to follow along!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am a fan. I couldn't resist buying the pattern and managed to sew two petals by now. A quilt along sounds good. Maybe it motivates me to finish my quilt soon.
ReplyDeleteJust ordered the pattern. I've just loved the retro flower since seeing your first one. Not sure time will allow me to join the quilt along but very keen to give it a go at my own pace and see what others do as well. Thanks Rachel!

ReplyDeleteI have the pattern and the templates, and, err, I've finished *most* of my other commitments, so what the heck!
ReplyDeleteI have the pattern but haven`t done anything with it and this looks like it`s going to be a blast!
ReplyDeletePerfect timing, I was just about to start mine...I might just have to join in!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I am already working on this pattern, so this will be some extra motivation to get sewing. :)
ReplyDeleteI have been drooling ever since you started yours. I finally am going to join my first QAL! Bought the pattern today!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally in! Used the discount from Curves class to purchase the pattern, and going to flex the skills I learned from your class. Excited!
ReplyDeletep.s. I also practiced my new curve learning while piecing a NY Beauty quilt along block. Thanks so much Rachel!
