Celebrate Color {Colour Palettes}

colour palettes for Celebrate ColorI'm home! I'm home! (from The Sewing Summit) And the room is spinning.  I think new ideas are floating up there, but big questions are swimming somewhere below and in between it all I'm wanting to unpack and simply get lost in the memories.

When what should I do but take a hop, skip and jump over the sea to my friend Emma Lamb and discover her Colour Palette post, a Celebrate Color special.

And, it's lovely.  So, lovely that it heals me in a way.  I feel washed and refreshed, like I've dived into a pool of color where it really does all make sense.  I see my friends, new and old, in a Emma's "Earthy neutrals" and "Dark & cosy nights" and I see myself in those "Seasonal brights".  And seeing yourself and seeing others, you understand so much more who you are, where you stand and the nature of the path set before you.  It's a good feeling, connecting the dots.  Maybe that's what I take most from The Sewing Summit - a sense of who I am, having now discovered anew who so many of you are.

I see myself here because it is warm and bright and happy.  I see myself in the dancing hues, the colors so full of life, so unafraid of contrast.  I see myself here as someone comfortable mixing with others.  Welcoming new experiences, new seasons of life, discoveries around every corner.  I see myself here living.  Smiling.  Laughing.

The room has come to a slow and wobbly stop.  I think I'll go unpack now.  When I come back, I would so love to find a note from you.  Would you take a peak at Emma's colour palettes and tell me where you see yourself?  And why?  Or just a snippet about your colors?  I do believe our colors reveal something elemental about our personalities.  And every color story is a treasure.

  1. I love the earthly neutrals...they make me yearn for the days I used to fabricate jewelry...loving the silver tones.

  2. First of all, welcome home! Yes, I too believe that color runs through us in a way that it can help explain or even define us. I am 100% Dark and Cozy Nights. I am deep and serious with subtle pops of color (or personality traits) that surprise yet harmonize. Warm and sweet. :)

  8. I am definitely the seasonal brights- love the pops of mustard and turquoise/teal- strong colors speak to me especially when paired with something softer to balance it all out.

    Enjoyed our ride yesterday!

  9. I love each of the pallettes but today I'm really feeling the Dark and Cosy nights... maybe because I've been so sleepy all day! But my creative mind is heading toward jewel tones, for creating a kntting bag for my friend.

  12. It was so lovely to have a chance to get to know you better Rachel! And I love what you said about knowing yourself better now knowing more about all of us. I completely agree with that. In a sea of similarities, I find myself so aware of our differences too. In a good way.

  16. The dark and cozy nights mosaic is calling my name. I can't put my finger on exactly why. I guess it's because of the strong jewel tones in the mix. All three color stories are beautiful, though.

Unpacking is sad, definitely. I'm going to avoid it for another evening, although I am going to photograph the new stash!

  17. It sounds like the Sewing Summit was really beneficial to you, as well as being lots of fun. I'm so glad you got to go.

I love the earthy neutrals, but that shot of the woman in the mustard and grey in front of the teal door is GORgeous!

  20. ooohh, the dark and cosy nights for sure! - They're rich and calming, but with a hint of the exotic. Not sure that that is me, but those are the ones that I'm drawn to today!

  21. I am drawn to both "seasonal brights" and "dark & cozy nights". I naturally go towards the darker, more bold colors. I love color and I'm very comfortable with it. The pastels and lighter colors don't give me that "zip" when I look at them.

  22. I visited Emma's blog, and loved all her palettes. I'm trending toward the Dark & Cozy palette lately.
Grounded in blacks and grays, but with pops of color - especially reds and teals.

  23. I think I'm a seasonal brights person too, as I'm not so much into just grey (well, not to wear) and I'm not so into the pink pallette.

    Glad you had fun :o)

  24. Beautiful post! :-) And I loved all three palettes, so beautiful! The most "me" of the three is the earthy neutrals palette. I've always loved cool colours, especially blues, and right now I really love the combination of petrol, mustard and grey.
