Welcome, JAQS Fabrics!

This September, one of my brand new sponsors is  JAQS Fabrics. If you haven't visited this shop before, I think you'll be immediately impressed.  The homepage is so clean and modern, with great fabrics nicely presented, plus lots of ways to browse by designer, color, theme, etc.

Right off the bat, I was drawn to this little button advertising her Fat Quarter sale.

You see, JAQS fabrics makes it easy to order fat quarters or yardage in any print, so naturally she's accumulated plenty of "fats" left over from making quarters.  With this sale, Q has bundled up 12 fat quarters priced at just $1.25 per quarter.  That's a darn good price!  I'd take this one home, thank-you very much, only I can't justify general stash building just now.  I really appreciate that her fat quarter bundles are what-you-see-is-what-you-get, so there's not that fingers-crossed, hoping, and wishing feeling that sometimes comes with saving.

Ok, so have any of you seen these fabrics by Studio E?

Up top is Brook Branch and then Brook in Turquoise.  I hadn't!  The branches read "fun, yet sophisitcated" to me and I think they'd make a great palette for a project.  But then the lower print - that's totally a Sashiko embroidery pattern, and one I particularly love.  Cool!  With the pencil you can tell that's it's on a pretty small scale.  I rarely find small scale prints that I really like.  Am I the only one?  Gosh, how much fun would it be to use this fabric like a pattern and do your Sashiko right over the top?  I'm thinking little patches of pretty to add to a zip pouch or pillow.  Hmmm....

Anyhoo, by and large I found a lot of cuteness happening at JAQS Fabrics.  Case in point:

I particularly request a reason to work with the Matryoshka dolls.

Ok, seriously, fabric doesn't wait around (in stores) for anyone.  It's pretty good at lying in wait in my cupboard for the very most perfect, most adorable project.  And this is my birthday weekend, right?  Why, yes it is.  And if I want to buy just a half yard, shipping is only $1.90.  Don't think I can argue with that!

Before I go and do some shopping, I did want to tell you that Q is a lovely, modern quilter who keeps a blog at JAQS Studio.  Look what she's done with that 2-D Zoo Alexander Henry print!  You can follow to enjoy her quilts and see her fabrics in action, plus try your luck at the occasional giveaway.  Oh, and you can also find JAQS Fabrics on Etsy, if that's your go-to fabric shop community!

I'll leave you with a very lovely star, to say "thanks" to Q for coming on board...

and with my dream birthday cake, to say "happy birthday to me".

Birthday Cake

Because if in some alternative universe someone were to make me a cake (moms, you know what I mean), it would most surely be inspired by Anna Maria Horner.  Isn't this one incredible?  No, it's not mine, I just wish it were.  Small Gathering is one of my most favoritist prints!

  6. Happy Birthday Rachel! I hope lots of gorgeous new fabric will come your way. (if that's your wish....) I didn't get around to commenting on an earlier post but those curtains look great. To me patchwork curtains are a brave move, but they look so good!
